I'm living a slow and soft life, and I'm grateful for it

Yesterday afternoon, I went to the mall to meet my husband for dinner and grocery shopping. While waiting for him, I went to a cafe, ordered a drink and a sandwich, and sat to read while enjoying my snack. It was a quiet and uneventful afternoon, but for me, reading in that cafe was bliss.

I have spent the last month and a half resting and devoting time to myself. I found joy in cooking dinner unhurriedly because I could start early enough. I was able to finish the book I started reading last February. Now, I'm reading a new one, "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikawa Kawaguchi. This was the book I brought with me to the cafe yesterday.

It was a read-in-a-cafe kind of day.

Two weeks ago, my husband and I went to the beach. We stayed there for two nights. And because I don't have a full-time job right now, I didn't need to file a leave, nor did I need to brace myself for the tasks waiting for me when I got back. I went on our short trip without worrying about anything.

This beach trip is the highlight of my break.

This break is not forever, as I plan to go back to work soon, but I am grateful to have the opportunity to slow down and simply do things I like. This break also made me realize that I've made a good life for myself. Back in my twenties, whenever I left a job, I needed to have a new one as soon as possible. I couldn't afford to go on a break. But now, I can take my time and choose to rest before embarking on a new adventure.

I'm hoping to find a new job soon. But while waiting, let me relish this soft life and look for another cafe to enjoy reading in.
